The Peninsula Golf & Country Club was founded in 1911. The first golf course on the property was designed by Tom Bendelow (1868-1936). Donald Ross (1872–1948) arguably the most influential golf course designer in the history of the sport, designed the current course in 1922. Ron Forse completed a course restoration in 2003.
