#7 is a straightaway, up-and-down par 4 that sees its share of both birdies and the dreaded “others”.
The tee shot looks up at a large ridge that runs across the fairway, sloping strongly from left to right. The Salesforce Tower pokes above the hill and seems like it might be a good aiming spot, but a shot in that direction is likely to bound off the hill and end up in the out of bounds that runs along the entire right side of the hole. A better aiming line is just right of the 150-yard pole at the top of the hill.
Most tee shots will hit into the hill, leaving a straightforward 150-yard downhill, downwind approach into the large circular green. Longer hitters can clear the hill and have a flip wedge approach, but clearing the hill without the proper right-to-left shot shape risks the OB that increasingly encroaches on the right the closer the player gets to the green.
Take a moment to enjoy the panoramic view of San Francisco as you walk to the top of the hill.
