At 359 yards from the back tee, the uphill fifth hole at Lincoln Park is the longest hole on the front nine.
The tee shot is attractive, with a wide fairway and a clear view of the green perched at the top of the hill. The fairway tilts strongly from right to left and gives players a choice about what kind of tee shot to hit. Shorter hitters can aim for the plateau on the right, which offers a flat lie, a decent view at the green, and a mid iron approach shot. Longer hitters will need to navigate a ridge that repels shots to the left, leaving them a shorter shot but one that is blind and forces a more elevated second shot.
The approach is trickier than it seems, playing uphill and downwind to a shallow green with a bunker lurking to the left, rough on the right, and short shots likely to roll back 20 yards or more. Anywhere on the putting surface is a good result and should provide a decent look at birdie.
