The 18 hole course (known locally as “the big course”) was redesigned in 1924 by former Open Champion James Braid, and it is doubtful if any of todays course architects could make better use of the land than Braid. Not long by modern standards at 5850 yrds, Greenock is no pushover, tight fairways, and small undulating greens will test players at every level. The terrain is semi-moorland, with many tree lined fairways, and the odd burn and bunker to to catch the slack shot.
