Since 1986, the golf course of the Golf Association "De Woeste Kop" has been located on the "Smitsschorre" site in Axel, which was created by the excavation of soil from the canal widened from Terneuzen to Ghent in the 1960s. It is a challenging course with a park-like character. The course, both fairways and greens, are excellently maintained. Except for snow and frost, summer greens can be played all year round.
