Hole 17 Discussion

The short par 4 17th starts players back toward the clubhouse. The tee shot plays downhill down a rolling and irregular fairway toward the creek. Players trying to reach the green will have three large hazards to contend with, and missing short can easily send a shot into the creek. Playing the tee shot conservatively leaves complex strategy. Safer shots to the left side leave a shorter, but more challenging shot into the green. Strategic shots that flirt with the creek can leave easy chips onto the putting surface.

The undulating green here rewards shots that are close to the pin.

"The first two hundred yards or so represent smooth sailing off the seventeenth tee but...

...a lumpy fairway and the stream make matters more complicated within 120 yards of the green.

...While still being unforced in appearance, the angled green has three distinct sections, all requiring a deft touch. A mere 22 yards deep, the green represents the most shallow target on the course."
