Hole 9 finishes the front nine the way it started, with a relatively straightforward par 4. Left into the trees off the tee is obviously bad, although being in the trees on the right is no picnic either. This is a case like hole 7, where if you miss, you want to miss big, because a big miss leaves you room to clear the trees and go for the green. It’s much easier to make par from the Red Course or the 1st fairway than the left or right trees. The bunker on the right could pose a hazard for the bigger hitters who might choose to simply overpower this hole, and a safe 230 to 250 yard club is probably a better bet, leaving a straightforward wedge shot into the green. This green, like the previous two, slopes from back to front, and there’s virtually no room to miss long, with the cartpath and then the fence just a few yards away. Blading a wedge into the picnic tables or onto the practice green is not a good feeling, so be careful and don’t take too much club. This hole should be an easy par, but it gives you enough rope to hang yourself if you’re overly aggressive or careless.
