Hole 12 is your best shot at an eagle on the entire course. A wide-open par 5 that can play as short as 430 from the tips, there’s really no excuse for not picking up a stroke here. In recent times, they have begun to move the tees further back, making the hole play between 450 and 480 yards, and they’re building a new tee box that would probably play around 475, but it’s still very reachable. The fairway starts left and then doglegs back to the right, but the “rough” in between is quite short and you shouldn’t fear taking a more direct line toward the green; if you can manage about 250 yards off the tee, you should be able to cut off the dogleg entirely. The only real hazard here (aside from the dreaded slice over the fence) is the weeping willow tree to the right of the cartpath. A miss to the right that leaves you behind it may preclude you from going for the green in two. There’s also tall grass on the left, but it’s really hard to miss that badly off the tee. A good drive on an aggressive line should leave you a mid-iron in. The green has two tiers, and you can’t miss long due to the hazard, so you may end up with a long uphill putt for your eagle. The bunker on the right isn’t overly challenging (although it’s often full of water) and the grass bunker on the left is pretty forgiving unless it’s wet and the grass has been allowed to grow for a while. This is probably the easiest hole on the back nine, and should be a nearly free birdie unless you really make a meal of it.
