Redbud is a dramatic par 3 over a large pond. The green typically pushes shots left from the center, so you’ll often see players get birdie opportunities when the pin behind the left bunker.
“Normally, the Sunday flags are very accessible to make birdies. You have 20, 30 feet right of the flag, quite a big area, and it feeds to the hole. It’s a good opportunity to make a birdie, maybe you’re best opportunity other than 15, if you’re one back on Sunday and need a birdie.”
“It doesn’t look that much from the tee, but once you get on the green — throw a ball on it and watch it roll back — it rolls to a pretty consistent spot. So when the pin is on the left side, it’s more about making sure you have the right distance than it is about accuracy.”
It is tradition on Monday practice rounds, for players to attempt to reach the green by skipping the ball off the pond. There have been a few hole-in-ones, including Vijay Singh in 2009, Martin Kaymer in 2012, and Jon Rahm in 2020.
